What is Personalization?

Personalization is the method of imprinting info belonging to the end user (typically their name). It’s accomplished by using variable data and can be done using a variety of imprint methods whether it’s printing, laser engraving, or embroidery.

And it’s effective. According to a recent survey, the appeal for personalization is high, with 80% of respondents indicating that they are more likely to do business with a company if it offers personalized experiences and 90% indicating that they find personalization appealing.

So, incorporating personalization into your marketing strategy is nothing new, but it may be more important than ever. The average person sees between 4,000 and 10,000 ads per day. Personalized products speak directly to the recipient, cutting through the noise in a way that typical promotional products can’t.

Get Inspired

I asked our team for their favorite ways to do personalization, and here’s what they came up with!

“Personalization is an awesome way to show appreciation. Custom awards are the peak example of appreciation. Level up your awards and appreciation gifts with something functional like this award that moonlights as a wireless speaker.” -Kasey

“What if you don’t know the names of your recipients yet? Our design team came up with an alternative way to personalize *without* personalization. A white rectangular imprint on a bottle made the perfect spot for campers at Camp KSC to write their name in themselves.” – Tori

Take It To The Next Level

So you’ve got your personalized products.. now what? How can you maximize your efforts? Check out this story from our CEO, Dean Caravelis who created a memorable experience using personalization and took a bank event’s check-in to the next level.

I did a project for a bank event for CEOs where we engraved the bank’s logo as well as each attendee’s name on premium pens. The attendees were checked in, given their name tag as well as their custom pen, and asked to write 1-2 sentences about the best business advice they ever received on a large poster board next to the check-in area.

This integrated the personalized pen naturally into the check-in process and provided an interactive experience for the attendees!”

The best part of these custom products is that the recipients have a higher tendency to keep things that have their name on them. (We all tend to be little bit selfish in that way! 😏) Even a mid-range budget tumbler with their name on it can hold more value than a higher end one without their name. It’s the difference between “This is a tumbler” and “This is MY tumbler.”
